Zelensky called Russia a 'terrorist' state on Christmas Day

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the people of Ukraine to be patient with Russia's attacks on Christmas. He made this call in a video address given on Saturday (December 24) local time.


Besides, Zelensky termed Russia as a terrorist state. He said freedom has to be paid for. But the price of slavery is high.

Showing various war-damaged pictures on social media, he said, "The world must see and understand how bad a country we are fighting."

Addressing the people of Ukraine, Zelensky said, "We have been enduring since the beginning of the war. Endured attacks, threats, nuclear blackmail, terrorism, and missile attacks. Let's endure this winter because we know who we are fighting. But we will celebrate our holidays! We will laugh and be happy. The difference is we don't wait for miracles. Because we have to fight and win this war.

According to the BBC reporter, residents of most regions of Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv, will have a dark and cold Christmas. Russia's missile and drone strikes have left millions of Ukrainians without electricity, heating, and running water.

But many Ukrainians told the BBC the hardships had made them stronger. Since the war has been delayed into the 11th month, they can wait longer to defeat Russia.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian military officials said 10 people were killed in a Russian airstrike in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson on Saturday. Besides, 64 others were injured. Kherson, the only regional capital occupied by Russia, was liberated by Ukraine last month.

Since then, Russian forces stationed on the left bank of the Dnipro River have been attacking Kherson. In addition, fierce fighting continues between Ukrainian and Russian troops in the strategic city of Bakhmu in Ukraine's eastern Donbas region.
