Israel has carried out airstrikes on the international airport of Damascus, the capital of Syria, and several locations south of it. Five Syrian soldiers were killed.

Israel has recently intensified its missile and airstrikes in Syria. In continuation of this, the air force of the country carried out a major attack on Damascus airport on Sunday.

Regarding the attack, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said on its website that the first attack was carried out at 3:45 am local time. It is also said that numerous missiles were fired from the aircraft targeting the airport and some areas south of the city from the direction of Lake Tiberias.
Citing military sources, state news agency SANA said several buildings were destroyed in the missile attack. At least 5 soldiers were killed.
The media also reported that the Syrian air defense forces were able to shoot down most of the missiles. However, it is not yet known whether the operation of the airport has been disrupted due to the attack.
Intelligence and diplomats say that Israel is using the Damascus airport as a route to supply weapons to Hezbollah in Syria and Lebanon. The attack on the airport has been stepped up to disrupt Tehran's growing arms supply.
