The United States will take 55 thousand immigrants in the DV lottery, the application has begun.

The US State Department is about to begin accepting applications for the 2024 Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery. The application can be made online from Wednesday (October 5) at noon local time. The application period ends on November 8.


Foreign citizens will be given a total of 55,000 green cards in the fiscal year 2024, according to the US State Department, Newswire.


However, nationals of countries that cannot apply for this DV program are Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland), Venezuela and Vietnam.


Since 2013, the United States has closed DV lottery applications for Bangladeshis.

The US State Department maintains 185 types of visas for legal entry into the United States. Among them, DV given through lottery is more popular. Every year, the US administration gives permanent citizenship to more than 55 thousand people from different countries of the world.
